The European tour in promotion of the disc turns out to be a success.
He wins the Telegatto as "Revelation Singer of the Year" in Vota la voce. In 1996 he participates and wins in Un disco perestate with the song Con il cuore (cover of the original song Precious Moment of 1987, by Climie Fisher), which he also sings at the Festivalbar. In the same period the Anime album was released, which ranks fourth for sales in Sanremo Top and which achieves platinum status three times. In 1996 he returned to the Sanremo Festival, this time in the Champions section, finishing in sixth place with the song If now you go away. He also collaborates with Walt Disney, interpreting with the singer Emanuela Cortesi the song Se tu non ci fossi from the cartoon Pocahontas. It is produced by the manager Marco Patrignani and by Phil Palmer with whom Massimo establishes a collaborative relationship destined to last over time. Some songs are signed by Eros Ramazzotti, Renato Zero and Enrico Ruggeri. The disc is released in 35 countries, it also comes out in a Spanish language version entitled Libres como el viento. Later his first album, We were born free, was released, which went platinum. In 1995 he participated in the Sanremo Festival in the New Proposals category, where he ranks second. In 1994 he participated in Sanremo Giovani with the song Soli, winning in the Songwriters category and thus obtaining admission for the New Proposals section of the 1995 Sanremo Festival. Later he was signed by the record company Sony Music. In 1993, while he is working again on the series I Ragazzi del muretto, he passes the selection for the Castrocaro Festival, where he reaches the final with a song called I am sbroccando per te.
Di Cataldo is then chosen among the protagonists of the film Sabato italiano. Director Gus Van Sant takes him to the set of Beautiful and the Damned. Later he took part in the series produced by Rai I Ragazzi del muretto. He follows an intense activity as an actor, above all theatrical but also cinematographic. He gets noticed by the director Mauro Bolognini, who wants him for A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest. Graduated from the artistic high school and fascinated by the theater, from a very young age he acted in commercials and played small television parts. While still a teenager he is able to play different instruments, a passion that allows him to become part of the underground music circuit of the eighties. Since he was a child he has been passionate about music and singing, also acting in commercials and taking part in some television programs, including the Zecchino d'Oro. Massimo Di Cataldo (Rome, 25 April 1968) is an Italian singer-songwriter.
